I’m Yasufumi Komukai. I’m from Japan. I finished work last year and came to New Zealand in February. I have been in New Zealand for 5 months. At the beginning I didn’t know right from left, but finally I knew right and left. I came here to learn rugby, because I’m going to be a teacher in high school in Japan and teach rugby. Therefore, I contacted someone who is coaching in Wellington. His name is katsu. He has lived in Wellington for 25 years and is working as an agent for rugby study abroad. He introduced me Poneke. I still can’t have a conversation with teammates because I can’t speak English well. So what I keep in mind is “smile”. I think that smile doesn’t make people bad. I can’t communicate with words but I can communicate with smile and playing rugby.
This year, there was B&I Lions series in NZ. I went to stadium with the pride of my country. Lions won for the past 24 years. Lions supporters were very excited also me. I won’t forget that view. Thanks to all the people I have met so far, I am able to be in New Zealand. I am grateful for this and enjoy life in New Zealand.
